Retta was born in 1864 at New Jersey.1,2 She married Harry Americus Scarburgh, son of Mitchell Thorogood Scarburgh III and Mary Hannah Young, on 20 December 1883 at Powelton, Acc Co, VA. He was a 22 year old farmer and she was age 18, born in New Jersey and living in Acc Co. They were married by J.W. Stiff..1 Retta died in 1944.2 Her body was interred at Wachapreague Cem, Acc Co, VA.2
