  1. 14.  Crother C. Lang was born on 17 Apr 1919 in VA (son of Clyde Cleveland Lang and Willie E. Chesser); died on 18 Sep 2000; was buried in Downing's Cemetery, Oak Hall, Accomack, VA.

    "Crother C. Lang, 91, son of the late Clyde and Willie Lang of Hallwood, passed away on Monday, Sept. 18 at his residence after a long illness.

    He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Myrtle M. Lang, who passed away June 8. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Judy L. Godwin and grandson, Ralph Godwin Jr. He is survived by a son-in-law, Ralph L. Godwin of Bloxom; three daughters, June Sanchez and her husband, Victor, of Mansfield, Texas, Betty Zupan and her husband, Paul, of Atlanta, Ga., and Esther Troast and her husband, Paul of Pocomoke, Md.; five grandchildren, Rodney Godwin of Bloxom, Vikke Sanchez of Scottsdale, Ariz., Sharon Zupan of Hallwood, Paul Zupan Jr. of Salisbury, MD and Ben Troast of Bethany, Del.; and one very important great-grandson, Devin Zupan of Hallwood.

    He was a lifelong member of Hallwood Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and performed Layman duties. He served on the Accomack County Board of Supervisors from the Atlantic District from 1984 to 1988, whereas, he served as vice chairman in 1986 and chairman in 1987. As a result of his being a member of the Board of Supervisors, he also served on the Accomack Northampton Planning District Commission, Accomack Northampton Transportation District Commission, Accomack C. Agricultural and Forestal District Commission, Delmarva Advisory Council, Liaison for the Sheriff?s Department, County Personnel Committee, County Reorganizational Committee and Tax Relief for the Elderly Committee. He was an active member and past president with the Gideons Organization where he did much public speaking. He was inducted into the Eastern Shore Baseball Hall of Fame in 1994 at Perdue Stadium. He was a pitcher for the old Eastern Shore League and played on the Greenbackville Team. He will be best remembered for his kind and giving heart and his generosity to his fellow man, he never met a stranger who didn?t become his friend.

    Funeral services were held at Hallwood Baptist Church, Hallwood, on Friday, Sept. 22, at 2 p.m. Interment was in the Downings Cemetery, Oak Hall."
